Storyline
The Mountain Story painting artworks take their inspiration from the Kullu Valley, often celebrated as the Valley of Gods. This Himalayan landscape, with its sweeping apple orchards, cedar forests, and snow-kissed peaks, holds centuries of myth, folklore, and devotion woven into its soil. For Dev Chandra, the valley became more than a destination—it was a living canvas where nature, spirituality, and human existence intertwine.
As he journeyed through Kullu’s ancient villages and temples, Dev encountered traditions that seemed to rise directly from the mountains themselves. The valley’s timeless rhythms—prayers drifting from wooden shrines, festivals alive with color, and the ever-present grandeur of the Beas River—found expression in his brushstrokes. Each artwork reflects not only the physical beauty of the valley but also its spiritual resonance, where gods and nature coexist in harmony.
Through layered textures and shifting palettes, the paintings portray dawn’s golden light on ridgelines, the hushed blue of twilight, and the fierce yet sacred storms rolling through the peaks. The series embodies resilience and reverence, echoing the humility of those who call the valley home.
The Mountain Story – Kullu Valley invites viewers to witness landscapes not merely as sights, but as living mythologies—where every river, rock, and forest carries a story of belonging, endurance, and divine presence.
